Overview

History

The history of the research on cyber science and technology of Shandong University dates back to the mid-1980s when the cryptography research group in the Department of Mathematics was formed. Its well-established research and postgraduate education in mathematics and cryptography have earned a considerable reputation in China. In 2002, an undergraduate program in information security was set up, which later achieved a distinguished status and was named a Provincial Key Discipline. In 2007, the Key Lab of Cryptologic Technology and Information Security, Ministry of Education was established at Shandong University, aiming to build a platform to conduct research and educate students of world top level. The excellent research and teaching in the Lab enabled Shandong University in 2015 to be one of the first to launch doctoral programs in cyber science and technology. In October 2018, the School of Cyber Science and Technology (CST) was officially established, opening an exciting new chapter for the related disciplines of Shandong University.

Highlights and Awards

CST has a faculty devoted to high-level research and teaching, led by Prof. Wang Xiaoyun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Research on critical projects by the CST faculty has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the National Key R&D Program, etc. The research projects cover cryptographic designs and analysis, network and system security, and theoretical cyber science. With the Key Lab of the Ministry of Education, the CST research team has made remarkable achievements. And it has been recognized by numerous prestigious awards, including two 2nd class awards for National Natural Science, three 1st class awards for National Cryptographic S&T Progress, and the Innovation Award of the Chinese Association for Cryptologic Research.
